Welcome to The OPP 400 Season 3, as we enter its 3rd year the 400 is fast becoming a must do event on the UK race calender, there are 3 races in the series you can do all 3 or just chose which events you can attend.
Unlike some other UK and European 400s this event is highly technical and challenges all the skills in the athletes toolbox, rather than the course being an extended 100 metres it is more a condensed version of a technical 3k with 20+ obstacles in the race, its run as a Championship style banded system, you start the race with 3 bands, if you fail a banded obstacle you will lose 1 band, but if you manage to finish with at least one band then you can win your bands back by running the penalty loop.
The race format is:
Adults have 2 timed runs with the top 4 fastest times moving onto the head to heads semi-finals, then 3rd & 4th place run offs before the finals.
Juniors have 2 timed runs with the top 2 fastest times competing in a head to head final, 3rd and 4th will be decided on times from the heats.
Youth have 2 timed runs with the top 2 fastest times competing in a head to head final, 3rd and 4th will be decided on times from the heats.
Age Ranges 2027
Some important changes to the rules for 2027- full rule book will be published in 2027
Rules on bands:
An athlete with all there bands at the end of a race will take win priority over an athlete that has to complete penalties:
