The Life Centre is a resource, originating out of the pandemic and a desire to provide a place where we can share share life together, loving and supporting the local community.
It provides various activities covering all ages - from Children & Youth to Seniors and everyone in between.
It also gives essential support for those struggling with Cost of Living demands.
Here’s some more info on what is currently happening:
COST OF LIVING SUPPORT
Primarily, but not exclusively, provided through the Life Larder which is a combined ‘Foodbank / Larder / Community Fridge’ provision aiming to meet needs for those struggling with food costs and reduce waste. In addition, monthly ‘home cooked’ meals are made available, with surplus meals frozen and made available as part of normal larder allocations. Additional help is offered, whether the need is someone to talk to, or signposting to other support local support services.
In addition to the above, we manage the Energy Support Fund to help financially with home energy costs.
CHILDREN’S EVENTS
Activities range from Summer Holiday Clubs to one off seasonal events, with craft, games, singing, drama & more. Typically for children in school year 3-6.
N-GAGE YOUTH CLUB
A weekly Youth club for children in school years 7-11.
Activities vary week by week. Club nights offer the likes of air hockey, basketball, cornhole, football, pool / snooker, table tennis, card / board games, or simply a place to hang out. Other activities include night hikes, team challenges, trips out and more.
WEEKLY CAFE
Every Friday, between 10am and midday is a great opportunity for us to get together as a community and chat over coffee and cake. As part of our 'cost of living support' we offer fresh coffee, hot chocolate or a selection of teas plus cake. Every couple of months we provide lunches. All this is provided free (if needed) or for a donation.
CHURCH +
The Life Centre is not Church, but originated out of Wychwood Baptist Church, which meets at the Life Centre every Sunday morning at 10.30am. All are welcome.
AND THAT’S NOT ALL …
Other events, in addition to the regular activities mentioned above, are provided from time to time. Plus, whilst not directly provided by the Life Centre, a number of other groups meet here. These currently include the Wychwood Mini’s Playgroup, Saplings and BODS Drama groups, Sun Rae Dance Classes, Tap and Salsa/Dance Therapy.
